Introducing Ask Izzy

No one expects to be homeless but across the country one in 200 Australians experience homelessness every night. Often they don’t know where to find help.

Trying to find shelter, food, health and other services can prove difficult when information is outdated, waiting lists are long and service criteria is complex.

Research has found that almost 80% of those who are homeless own a smartphone, and that’s where Ask Izzy comes in. Ask Izzy helps people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to find important information when they need it most, right away and nearby.

The innovative mobile website is Australia wide, free and easy to use, and available on phones, tablets and computers. It can help those in need to find information about more than 350,000 services including housing options, where to access meals, clothing and health services, legal and financial advice, family violence, mental health, and drug and alcohol support. Results are location-based, using Google maps technology, and searching is completely anonymous.

Ask Izzy will not only help those experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, it will also be an invaluable resource for the people who support them.

Ask Izzy was developed in a partnership between realestate.com.au, not-for-profit Infoexchange, Google and News Corp Australia. Click here to visit the site.
